Our Indigenous cultural tours in Victoria, BC run all year round. The Pəlat̓ ᶱəs Canoe Tour is our only tour that runs seasonally from approximately May through October.
Songhees walking tours are available in a 1.5 hour and a 2.5 hour option. The Pəlat̓ ᶱəs canoe tour is 2.5 hours long giving you plenty of time to explore Lək̓ʷəŋən territory with our knowledgeable guides. All our tours are all lead by trained Indigenous guides.
Yes! In addition to public tours, we offer private cultural tours for schools, universities, corporate groups, and special events. Contact our team at message@songheestours.com to plan a customized experience.
All of our Indigenous walking and canoe tours start in front of the CANADA sign at Ship Point in downtown Victoria, BC — just steps from major attractions and hotels. The ending of each tour varies depending on the tour.
Yes. Walking tours are open to all ages. Canoe tours welcome children ages 5 and up, making them a unique family-friendly activity in Victoria.
We provide life jackets for all canoe experiences. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable footwear suitable for walking or paddling. Bringing water and sunscreen is recommended for summer tours.
Walking tours are generally accessible for most abilities. Canoe tours require basic mobility, but please let us know in advance of any mobility or accessibility needs so we can make accommodations wherever possible.
We welcome walk-up visitors at the Inner Harbour, but we recommend booking your tour online in advance to guarantee your spot — especially during peak summer months.
Our cancellation policy varies, depending on which tour you booked. Please check your ticket for accuracy.
Tours may be cancelled for bad weather, safety concerns, or cultural reasons. If this happens, you will be offered a rescheduled date or a full refund.
Yes. Each tour is led by Indigenous guides from the Songhees Nation who share Lək̓ʷəŋən language, history, and cultural traditions connected to the land and waters of the region.
Guests are welcome to take respectful photos, and your guide will let you know when photos are not appropriate.
Videos are not allowed during the tours. Please note that cultural teachings and ceremonies are sacred and may not be video recorded to ensure cultural integrity is maintained by the Nation to which they belong.
