It feels particularly clean here, and that’s no accident — not only are many of the destination’s businesses operating with sustainability in mind, but Victoria itself is a leader in environmental initiatives, with a plan to reduce community emissions by 80% and switch to 100% renewable energy by 2050, as well as reduce landfill waste by 50% by 2040.

Sustainable Things to Do

It’s easy to explore downtown’s scenic waterfront, restaurants and shops in an eco-minded way, thanks to the area’s excellent walkability and abundant bike lanes.

Whale watching is a top draw in Victoria, and two companies that practice it responsibly right out of the harbor are Prince of Whales Whale & Marine Wildlife Adventures and Eagle Wing Tours. Clients can also take to the skies with Harbour Air Seaplanes, which operates flightseeing tours from the harbor, and has been carbon neutral since 2007. The line is also working on converting to an all-electric fleet of seaplanes.

Finally, recommend that clients explore the area’s Indigenous culture and history with Explore Songhees, which offers guided walking and canoe tours.
